I thought I would catch you all up on what the children in our household are doing.
Brittany- is going to be going to a summer school program. We are not sure if she will be moving on to 3rd grade or not. She is having a really hard time keeping up with her age group in reading. Math she is doing really well unless it is a reading type of problem. I have been working with the school to try to catch her up, but it feels like we are paddling up stream. She is still on the heavy side though she is eating smaller meals and is getting more exercise. Because she is having issues in school it is leading to behavioral issues. She will be going to visit her bio-father sometime this summer. She enjoys art club, choir, and hip hop dance. She has a neopet that her grandfather helps keep supplied with neopoints for virtual pet gear.
Vincent- is speaking more and more words. He can jump and run and climb. His favorite thing to do is play with his older sister Brittany. His speech slurs when he is trying to talk too fast. He has a very sweet side yet tends to be aggressive at times. I have to watch him closely around the baby. He is on the path to being completely potty trained. He received a new toy truck for his first time using the little potty. He has a love for all things with wheels. He also enjoys playing on the family keyboard and dancing to the demos. His favorite food is grapes at this time. Last week it was apples. He will not eat anything vegetable that looks vegetable. He does like veggie corn dogs though.
Chelsea- is growing in leaps and bounds. She has two front bottom teeth and will be ready for finger solids soon. She is a beginner crawler. She has learned how to climb up on the foyer step to get into her big brother’s toys. Yesterday she sat up for the first time by herself from a belly position. She can wave socially and babbles almost nonstop. She enjoys playing peek-a-boo with her blanket. I can see her pulling up to stand soon. She loves to stand if helped up.
I hope to get new pictures of the family uploaded soon so check back by later this week.

If you happened to catch the end of American Gladiators, on NBC Monday night, you would have seen a great example of perseverance and determination. We just happened to catch the very end where the men were battling it out on the eliminator. I didn’t catch the names of the guys that were up against each other, that wasn’t what grasped my attention, nor was it the chiseled bodies. Right when we turned in the winner was going up the reverse escalator to break through the wall. He had a very good time for the challenge. What came next set my heart thumping. The guy he was competing against had only one leg and a prosthetic. He looked so tired yet filled with determination just to complete what he had his mind on. He tried over and over again to get up the reverse escalator. Each time he grasped for the rope and missed. Each time the crowd got further and further on edge. Just watching it had me almost in tears. Finally they stopped the escalator to allow him to finish. As he crossed the finish line the crowd cheered in delight. This young man persevered against all odds and completed with his unbreakable will of determination. It really resonated within my soul. Next time I am up against a challenge I want to remember what I saw that evening and remember to push for my goal.

As the sun set, the fires here in Brevard burned hot overnight. Even if these fires were arson it still opens your eyes wide to natures fury. My heart goes out to all the people that have been evacuated. My sister’s house is very close to the burning, but luckily she has not had to uproot her family.

I went online to look at images to see if I could recognize any of the area that is burning. I found a few pictures that I would like to share. They are from the Orlando Sentinels website. I can’t help but wonder where a few of the people I know have went for shelter. I have opened our home to a few if they need a place. So far the need hasn’t come. I am hoping it won’t for their sake. The wind is suppose to take a shift into this afternoon. It is expected to blow South West which might just help the fire fighters since the fire will have less fuel. It will be shifted to burn back over the same path it has already been.

and the flames blaze on…
